Marmotte Granfondo Alpes
Every cyclo tourist has come across fascinating stories during these renowned cyclo’s: some regarding the fantastic ambiance, others on the melting pot of nationalities or over the stunning and challenging courses, including the ascents of 4 legendary cols of the Alps. In reality, the Marmotte Granfondo Alpes is all of this at once!

The Marmotte Granfondo Alpes has become the most important international cycling event of the summer in the Alps, after the Tour de France. The organisation limits the number of available spots to 7.500. The majority of participants come from abroad: 88% or 6600 international cyclo-fans.
Participants of the LEPAPE Marmotte Granfondo Alps have often spent hours and hours on their bike training to be able to finish on the legendary Alpe d’Huez, whilst conquering 21 hairpin bends. It takes courage to overcome the 177 kilometres and 5,000 altimeters.
The sequence of 5 of the most legendary passes in France: the Glandon, the Telegraph, the Galibier, the Lautaret, and finally the final ascent of Alpe d’Huez. Whether they aim for a certain time or just to be able to finish, every participant leaves Alpe d’Huez with a satisfying feeling knowing they have conquered this challenge.

Bourg d’Oisans is the ideal basecamp for all outdoor activities, situated in the heart of ‘les 6 vallées de l’Oisans’ and the ‘Parc National des Ecrins’. Delimited in the North by ‘le Massif des Grandes Rousses’, the village expands all along the open plane, situated at an average altitude of 730 meters (old glacial lake) and is crossed by the ‘la Romanche’ river. On top of all its outdour activities Bourg d’Oisans also has a rich and diverse collection of minerals. Bourg d’Oisans is part of the international cycling heritage by contributing to the legend of the Tour de France and as host-city of infamous cycling challenges as ALPE d’HUZES and LA MARMOTTE.
Finish : L'Alpe d'Huez
Alpe d’Huez and its ski resort are situated on a south-oriented high plain, at an altitude of 1.860 m where one can practically always enjoy the sun.
